EUM Upgrade from V6.x to V6.y will have the following steps, plus any other customizations that might have been planned for:

Azure AD Review

As you already have a working EUM V6, there is not much to review your Azure AD, however, we will still need to collect a few information before we could go ahead with the EUM Upgrade.

EUM Upgrade Session A

  • This will be a 30 minutes to 1 hour screen sharing session
  • You would need a Azure AD Global Admin access for this. The same account should have SharePoint Admin access
  • The session will create
    • The required App Registrations in your Azure AD, and update the existing one
    • Grant required permissions to those App Registrations
    • Four EUM Groups (Azure AD Security Groups in your Azure AD) if not already present
      • EUM Administrator
      • EUM Managers
      • EUM Group Creator
      • Portal Content Author
    • Give the EUM Administrator and EUM Managers groups access to the EUM Config site
  • Create Guest Accounts in your Azure AD, one for each of the EUM Support staff attending the EUM Upgrade Session, and make these members of the EUM Administrator Group
  • Give the above mentioned Guest Accounts a Temporary Contributor Access to the EUM Resource Group.
  • EUM will not be down at this point, and would function normally as the current version of EUM

EUM Upgrade Part B

  • We would not need a session
  • We will update the EUM Resource Group and all the EUM resources within (mainly App Services and Logic Apps)
  • Update the EUM Config site
  • EUM will be down during the EUM Upgrade Part B. Please notify the EUM Users about the EUM Downtime in advance
