Microsoft 365 Backup for EUM Upgrade to EUM 7.5 and higher

To ensure a safe and reliable upgrade of your EUM, Microsoft 365 Backup is recommended to be available within your Azure subscription. This would be applicable if we are upgrading your EUM to version 7.5 or higher. specially if your EUM is having one or more Portals.

Microsoft 365 Backup is Microsoft's native backup and recovery solution for Microsoft 365. It helps organizations quickly recover data in the event of accidental deletion, data corruption, or malicious activity. As part of the EUM upgrade process, we will use Microsoft 365 Backup to create a backup of the EUM Configuration SharePoint sites located within your Microsoft 365 tenant. This allows us to use the backup and restoration feature for duplication of the EUM Configuration SharePoint Online sites, Libraries, and Documents. This is because EUM is moving from one EUM Configuration site to multiple, one for the EUM Admin, and the other for each of the EUM Portals, if any. All these sites should be exact duplicates of one another, including the IDs of the items in the Lists, to start with.

7. Why is Microsoft 365 Backup Required for the EUM Upgrade?

For EUM, the primary use case is using the backup and restoration feature for duplication of the EUM Configuration SharePoint Online sites, Libraries, and Documents. This is because EUM, if having one or multiple portals, is moving from one EUM Configuration site to multiple, one for the EUM Admin, and the other for each of the EUM Portals, if any. All these sites should be exact duplicates of one another, including the IDs of the items in the Lists, to start with. The restoration of a backup site allows exactly this.
