Join Microsoft SharePoint MVP Peter Carson for the Envision IT Office 365 Webinar Series. This series starts with a tour of the Office 365 suite and its security features that make you not only more productive in the cloud, but also more secure. Next we’ll give you a glimpse into best practices for building a SharePoint Information Architecture for your organization and discuss the migration path to the cloud. Our third session explores user experience (including smartphone and tablets), branding, and navigation.

Office 365 Across Your Devices

Office 365 is Microsoft's cloud productivity suite. The best known components are Exchange, Skype for Business (formerly Lync), and SharePoint. Microsoft has been busy expanding this, adding Yammer, OneDrive for Business, Groups, Power BI, Delve, and Video. There's a lot of excitement, and a lot of confusion about Office 365. Organizations are moving to the cloud which has tremendous benefits and cost savings.

During this session, we'll show you how the real productivity benefits is in the sum of all these parts. Some of the scenarios we'll take you through are:

  • Email and calendar through Exchange
  • Instant messaging, video and desktop sharing through Skype for Business
  • Collaboration and document sharing through SharePoint and OneDrive for Business and when to use each one
  • Enterprise social networking through Yammer
  • How Office 365 Groups is used to create collaborative SharePoint spaces
  • Power BI for providing powerful visualizations of your corporate data
  • Knowledge discovery in Delve by exploring the staff in your organization, their connections with each other, and the work they do
  • Office 365 video makes it easy to publish and discover internal video content

Cloud often brings up concerns around security. We'll compare and contrast the extensive security Microsoft has in place with Office 365 with typical on premise infrastructure, and illustrate how for most organizations the cloud is a big step forward in security. We'll also cover the different ways to provide access, and how to provide simple single sign-on access for your staff, while also enhancing your information security. Lastly, we will discuss how organizations that are simply not allowed to put certain data in the cloud can still run a hybrid model to take advantage of O365 where permitted.
