The Client
Shops at Don Mills is Ontario’s first urban village and one of the largest redevelopment projects in Canada, combining best-in-class tenants, public spaces and the neighbourhood’s rich history. Located in Toronto at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue East, the development represents a new evolution in retail, showcasing a fresh concept where visitors stroll from stores to restaurants to public spaces in an open-air setting. More than 100 best-in-class shops and boutiques, restaurants, and amenities have been moving in since the grand opening in April, 2009. Shops at Don Mills is owned and managed by Cadillac Fairview Corporation, one of North America's largest investors, owners, and managers of commercial real estate.
The Solution
As part of the Retail Website Project that Envision IT delivered for Cadillac Fairview, Shops At Don Mills (SADM) website was redeveloped and launched to coincide with the grand opening of the Centre. In addition to all the other custom features provided to each public retail website, SADM had some specific requirements around image management and display of mall events. Envision IT deployed the Photo Viewer for SharePoint, which displays collections of pictures in a gallery format, providing a rich end-user experience. A mini events calendar web part was also developed for this site, to serve as the main navigational element of the events site. The web part allows a quick snapshot of dates with special events, and enables users to select from the calendar highlighted dates with event information.
