The Client

For over 50 years, Cadillac Fairview has been at the very centre of a dynamic and expanding industry. Cadillac Fairview is recognized as one of North America’s largest and most successful investors, owners and managers of prime commercial real estate, overseeing a portfolio of prime office properties and regional shopping centres totalling upwards of 50 million sq. ft. and valued at over $20 billion. Cadillac Fairview is wholly-owned by the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan, which invests to secure the retirement of 300,000 active and retired teachers in Ontario.

The Challenge

Following on the success of the CF Retail website, Cadillac Fairview knew that they needed a similar upgrade of their CF Office Space site which is used to promote office space availability across the country. The site needed to better reflect the goals and values of CF’s Office Leasing, and to demonstrate the high quality of properties they present through their Best in Class capital investment strategy, designed to ensure that the highest standards are maintained throughout the office portfolio and the company-wide commitment to creating the most sustainable office environments in the industry.

The Solution

The website, developed in SharePoint 2007, used the CF Retail site as a template which provides consistency of format and branding for visitors searching for retail or office space availability.  A Property Search allows potential tenants to view available property locations on an interactive map. Users can switch to a List View that provides key contact information and quick links to property profile pages or external sites that deliver more detailed information. The property pages display general information and contact details queried from SharePoint lists and libraries, as well as providing an image gallery.

This bilingual site is easy to maintain since most of the content is pulled from SharePoint libraries, ensuring the site is up-to-date with the latest data. The site is full of imagery that reflects the character of Cadillac Fairview and the individual properties, with a home page image rotator and photo galleries. Visitors are encouraged to interact – view maps, click through to external office property sites, and ultimately contact property leasing personnel.
